THE Russia did not attend his meeting OSCE on Tuesday, convened by Ukraineasking for explanations for the movements of Russian forces near the Ukrainian border.
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is one of the few multilateral platforms on which Eastern and Western countries talk. One of the Treaties adopted by the OSCE in recent years is the so-called “Vienna documentFor confidence-building and security measures, which provide for transparency between the armed forces of its 57 member states, according to AFP.
“Unfortunately, but no doubt not surprisingly, the Russian Federation did not come today,” said the US ambassador to the OSCE. Michael Carpenter during the meeting.
“Russia has not only refused to take into account Ukraine’s legitimate concerns about its security, but has even refused to participate in talks aimed at mitigating the risk,” he was quoted as saying by the EIA.
The representative of Russia not responded to a request from the French Agency to comment on these statements.
In a post on Twitter, the French delegation to the OSCE, for its part, called on Moscow, on behalf of the European Union, to “de-escalate the crisis” and “engage constructively in the diplomatic arena”.
