Russia will hold military exercises in the Black Sea, involving groups of ships, the Interfax news agency reported on Thursday, citing Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, according to Reuters.
Six Russian warships arrived in the Black Sea from the Mediterranean Sea earlier on Thursday for naval training near the Crimean peninsula annexed by Moscow from Ukraine in 2014, news agencies reported.
Russia announced last month that its navy would conduct a series of exercises in January and February involving all its fleets from the Pacific to the Atlantic in a show of strength linked to increased military activity during of confrontation with the West over Ukraine.
