A Russian drone strike in the southern Ukrainian city of Izmail killed three people and injured 14, including three children, Odessa regional prosecutors said on Friday.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service in the Odessa region released a video that showed burning buildings and rescuers working at the scene. Reuters was able to confirm the location of the video from the building’s features, trees, nearby buildings and road layout seen in the video archive and satellite images, as well as corroborating images released by the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Reuters was able to confirm the date of the video statement by Odessa regional governor Oleh Kiper.
The “large-scale terrorist attack” in the early hours of Friday caused several fires that damaged houses, Odessa regional governor Oleh Kiper said on the Telegram messaging app.
The nighttime Russian missile attack on the central city of Dnipro also damaged an industrial facility and caused a fire, Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Serhiy Lysak said on Telegram.
Drone attacks and bombings in the region have damaged infrastructure, Lysak said, adding that no casualties have been reported in the attacks.
The Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down 24 of 32 drones during Russia’s overnight attack on Telegram. One of the drones entered Romanian airspace, he said.
Russian forces also used a ballistic missile and two cruise missiles during the attack, the Air Force added.
