Russian attack with drones leaves at least 11 injured in Kiev

A nightly attack on Kiev’s Russian drones injured at least 11 people, including two children, and burned several residential buildings in the city, said military personnel and authorities in the Ukrainian capital on Sunday (4).

Destroyed drone debris caused fires in residential buildings in Obolonskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts in Kiev, Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kiev Military Administration, said on social networks.

Ukraine’s emergency service said in the Telegram message app that 76 firefighters were involved in the extinction of fires that occurred at night in Kiev.

Several cars around the city were set on fire for drills.

The Ukrainian military said their air defense units slaughtered 69 of the 165 drones launched by Russia at night.

Telegram reported that 80 drones were lost, referring to the use of electronic war by the Ukrainian military to redirect them, or that they were drone simulators that did not carry warheads.

There were no immediate comments from Moscow about the attack that occurred amid uncertainty about whether both sides would interrupt war activities during May 8-10 commemorations in Moscow for the Soviet Union victory and its allies in World War II.
