Russian blogger Azam Khodjaev bought stolen NFT for 140 ETH

Cryptocurrency enthusiast and popular blogger Azam Khodjaev bought an NFT from the collection of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) for 140 ETH. The collection token turned out to be stolen, and it was blocked.

Azam Khodjaev reported about the unpleasant situation on Instagram. As an investor, Khodzhaev decided to become a member of the NFT industry and purchase “bored monkey” #4250 from the popular BAYC collection. A few days ago, the blogger purchased it on the LooksRare non-fungible token trading platform. According to Etherscan, the purchase cost 139.99 ETH (about $411,000). Khodzhaev demonstrated the process of acquiring NFT live on Instagram.

Later it turned out that the “monkey” was marked in suspicious activity and belongs to another owner. Now the blogger cannot sell it and return the money spent. However, on the LooksRare platform, you can still submit offers for its purchase. There is already a notification on the OpenSea platform that this NFT is blocked, therefore it is not available for purchase and sale. Khodzhaev expressed regret that he did not check the collection token before buying it.

This month, the BAYC project has already been hit twice by hackers – attackers hacked into BAYC’s Discord and Instagram accounts, posting phishing links there. In December, one of the NFT collectors lost about 15 BAYC and MAYC collection tokens for a total of $2.2 million due to phishing.
