Russian bomb hits blood transfusion center in Kharkiv region, says Zelensky

A Russian-guided aerial bomb hit a blood transfusion center in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine on Saturday, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the president, a fire started at the site after the attack.

He also said, on Telegram, that there were fatalities and injuries as a result of the attack, but did not provide specific figures.

Zelensky said the blood transfusion center is located in the Kupyansk community, where Russia recently gathered troops on the front lines. The area was liberated in a Ukrainian counter-offensive last fall.

A CNN cannot independently verify reports of attacks on the front lines in Ukraine.
