The Federal Statistical Office, for its part, has announced about 270,000 deaths from COVID-19 from April 2020 to April 2021.
In the shadow of these numbers the powerful church urged them all believers to be vaccinated.
Speaking on state television, the Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the foreign relations department of the Moscow Patriarchate, said that those who refuse to be vaccinated are committing “a sin for which they will have to repent for the rest of their lives.”
“I see situations every day where people visit a priest to confess that they have refused to vaccinate themselves or their loved ones and caused someone to die, without wanting it. “The sin is to think of yourself but not of another human being,” he added.
