Thai police arrested 36-year-old Russian citizen Ibragim Gaitukiev for illegally providing cryptocurrency exchange services. Writes about this Bangkok Post.
According to the publication, the man was identified through an online advertisement. The telephone numbers indicated in the advertisement, to which WhatsApp accounts were registered, turned out to be linked to the bank accounts of Gaytukiev and his partner Maxim Varyukhin.
Law enforcement officers established that Russian citizens ran the company OM 118 Co on the island of Koh Phangan. They used a beach house as an office, which also housed Plantasia Cannabis Collective.
According to the publication, Gaitukiev admitted to providing tourists with cryptocurrency exchange services. He was charged, but the police did not report any actions against the second Russian.
Earlier, Thai law enforcement officers arrested two Russian citizens on suspicion of cryptocurrency fraud, which resulted in the death of several local residents.
