The Chinese company Omoda, which is a subsidiary of the Chery automotive market, some time ago began to open its branded dealerships in Russia – the official website indicates that there are already 96 of them at the moment. And yesterday, November 18, the Chinese Automobiles information publication citing its sources, it said that in some cities in these dealerships, new C5 crossovers have already appeared on sale. True, it is worth immediately clarifying that now SUVs are brought to the country only in the top-end Ultimate configuration, but even for this version of the car the price is quite pleasant.
The fact is that the recommended retail price for the maximum configuration of the C5 city crossover is only 2,699,900 rubles, while in the basic configuration the car will be sold for 2,429,900 rubles. Moreover, dealers now have all sorts of credit and trade-in discounts, thanks to which the price for the “base” can drop to 1,954,900 rubles, and the top-end equipment will cost 2,204,900 rubles. And, what is most attractive, the sources of the publication “Chinese Automobiles” report that now the C5 crossover is being sold without additional options from the manufacturer, since they simply do not exist. Accordingly, in the future, “dopas” will appear and the price may increase significantly if they are imposed, as other brands did before, and now is the best time to purchase.

In terms of performance, the Omoda C5 crossover, which the company itself calls a fastback crossover, is vaguely similar to its closest competitors. For example, a vehicle under the hood has a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 147 horsepower at 210 Nm of torque. Yes, the crossover probably will not have other engine options. The engine is paired with a front-wheel drive CVT, acceleration to hundreds takes 9.9 seconds, and the consumption in the combined cycle is 7.1 liters. For an urban crossover, the parameters are simply gorgeous, although driving it, of course, will be problematic.

The Ultimate trim certainly looks pretty rich, with two-tone body paint, a panoramic roof, red brake calipers, plus adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and even automatic high beams. And although sales should officially start on November 23, pre-orders are already open – company officials said that more than a thousand Russians have already applied for a new car. Probably, with such prices, the novelty will really be very popular.
