The Russian Defense Ministry said its troops had been ordered to resume the offensive “in all directions” after a suspension was ordered for negotiations with the Ukrainian government.
“[Na sexta-feira]after the Kiev regime declared its readiness for negotiations, active hostilities in the main directions of the operation were suspended,” Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement on Saturday (26).
“After the Ukrainian side abandoned the negotiation process, today all units were ordered to continue their offensive in all directions, in accordance with the plan of operation.”
A Ukrainian presidential adviser denied early on Saturday that Ukraine had refused to negotiate.
Konashenkov’s remarks, also echoed by the Kremlin, came after Western officials said the Russian invasion was not progressing as quickly as Moscow had hoped.
