The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that an SU-35 fighter jet rose above the Baltic Seaafter two American strategic bombers flew in the direction of the Russian border but then left.

“On March 20, radars of the air defense forces of the Western Military District on duty over the Baltic Sea detected two aerial targets flying in the direction of the state border of the Russian Federation”, the ministry announced on Telegram. According to the statement, the targets were US Air Force B52H strategic bombers.

US-Russia tension is escalating

The volume between Russia and the US has escalated especially after the incident of the fall of an American UAV in the Black Sea after a collision with a Russian fighter jet. The Americans defended that the Russians shot it down, while they in turn denied that there was any involvement.

Meanwhile, the US has announced that it will send new $350 million military aid package to Ukraine to more effectively counter Russian invasion and defend its territorial sovereignty. This new package mainly includes ammunition for the Himars missile launchers, announced the head of US diplomacy Anthony Blinken.

The delivery of the aid, which is also expected to include Bradley armored fighting vehicles, HARM missiles, boats, howitzers and anti-tank weapons, comes from funds already appropriated by the US Congress.

“Although Russia’s unacceptable war of aggression against Ukraine continues at the cost of enormous human losses, we bear in mind the boundless courage and unwavering determination of the Ukrainian people.”Blinken added.
