Russia could continue the security dialogue with the United States if Washington is ready, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, according to Russian media.
Ryabkov said Russia had “warned the United States that the withdrawal of weapons from a number of countries it orchestrates is not just a dangerous move, but an action that makes these missions legitimate targets.”
Relations between Russia and the United States have plummeted since Washington imposed heavy sanctions on Russia’s financial sector and economy in response to the Kremlin’s decision to launch a special military operation in Ukraine.
However, the Russian official noted that the proposals for security guarantees that Russia had sent to the United States and NATO before the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine last month are no longer valid as the situation has now completely changed.
