Moscow will give a strong response to US sanctions, not necessarily symmetrical, but well-thought-out and sensible for the US side, the State Department said in a statement on new US sanctions against Russia.
“There should be no doubt that sanctions will be met with a strong response, not necessarily symmetrical, but well thought out and felt by the American side,” the statement said.
The statement added that Russia remained open to diplomacy based on the principles of mutual respect and parity, and that “the pressure exerted by sanctions is not in a position to influence our determination to defend our interests vigorously.”
Finally, the statement said that the United States still believes that it has the right to impose its own rules of world order, and that only blackmail, intimidation and threats remain in the arsenal of American foreign policy.
