Russian frigate successfully tested the Zircon hypersonic missile against ground targets

The Russian Ministry of Defense officially informed the RBK news outlet about the successful testing of the Zircon hypersonic missile – the frigate Admiral Gorshkov fired at land-based coastal targets, having coped well with the task.

“The flight of the hypersonic missile corresponded to the specified parameters. Shooting from the frigate “Admiral of the Soviet Union Fleet Gorshkov” was recognized as successful, the target was hit, “- said representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

During the new stage of testing, the frigate completed its task, being in the waters of the White Sea, firing at a ground target located at the prepared Chizha training range in the Arkhangelsk region. At the same time, ships and naval aviation of the Northern Fleet also participated in the tests, and at this launch, the Ministry of Defense announced the end of the test cycle for the Zircon hypersonic missile. Accordingly, it is safe to assume that Vladimir Putin’s statement that the new missiles will enter service with the Russian army in 2022 is quite realizable.

It is worth recalling that quite recently, on November 18, the Zircon was launched from the board of the Admiral Gorshkov, but then the tests were carried out on the water with the defeat of surface targets – this stage of testing the hypersonic missile was also completed successfully.
