Russian fuel depot attack leaves at least one dead in Ukraine

A fuel depot in the eastern Ukrainian city of Novomoskovsk exploded on Sunday, killing one employee and injuring two others after being hit by three Russian missiles, the head of the regional government said.

Eleven people were injured in the attack itself, Valentyn Reznichenko said on Saturday.

Firefighters were still trying to put out the fire from the attack, about 14 hours after the warehouse was hit, Reznichenko said early on Sunday.

Novomoskovsk is northeast of Dnipro, the regional capital.

On Saturday, Ukraine vowed to prevail against Moscow as it battled Russian attacks near a key eastern city and several sites were hit by bombs and missiles.

“War can last for years”

Russia’s war in Ukraine could take years, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told a German weekly, adding that supplying Ukrainian troops with state-of-the-art weaponry would increase the chance of freeing the Donbass region from Russian control. .

“We must prepare for the fact that it could take years. We must not give up on supporting Ukraine,” Stoltenberg told Bild am Sonntag.
