Russian gas flows for 14 days east on Yamal-Europe pipeline

The Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, which normally carries Russian gas to Europe, flows backwards east from Germany to Poland for the 14th day in a row, according to German network operator Gascade.

The volume of gas heading east has reached 5.9 million kilowatt-hours (kWh / h) at the Malnov junction, on the border with Poland, the figures show, unchanged over the last 24 hours.

Exports via the Yamal-Europe pipeline account for one-sixth of Russia’s annual exports to Europe and Turkey.

Russia’s Gazprom has not closed its gas pipeline capacity to date, according to auction results.

The company closed a 8.3 million kWh capacity pipeline through the pipeline for January at auction last month.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that Germany was reselling Russian gas to Poland and Ukraine instead of placing it on the market, blaming the reversal of the Yamal-Europe pipeline and the spike in prices to German importers.

The volume of Russian gas passing through Ukraine to Slovakia through the Velke Kapusani border crossing has been further reduced today.

The predetermined volume of natural gas for today fell to 275,827 MWh, the lowest level since February 24, 2021, compared to 375,740 MWh yesterday, according to the data of the Slovak network operator Eustream.
