The Yamal-Europe pipeline, which typically delivers Russian gas to Western Europe, sent the fuel back to Poland for a sixth straight day on Sunday, according to data from German network operator Gascade.
According to Reuters, the data showed that the flows at the Mallnow measuring point at the German-Polish border were going east to Poland with an hourly volume of almost 1.2 million kilowatt hours on Sunday and are expected to remain at these levels during the day.
Gascade is owned by WIGA, a joint venture between Gazprom and the Wintershall DEA oil and gas company. Wintershall DEA is a co-owner of the German chemical group BASF and the Russian LetterOne.
Russia said this week that the reversal was not a political move, although it coincided with rising tensions between Moscow and the West over Ukraine and that it had pushed gas prices to record lows.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Germany was reselling Russian gas to Poland and Ukraine instead of easing an overheated market, blaming German importers for the reversal and spike in prices.
