Russian government says that a meeting between Putin and Trump is essential

The Russian government said on Friday (16) that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, and US President Donald Trump was essential, but required early preparation and had to produce results when it happened.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comment after Trump said he would meet Putin as soon as he could set up a meeting.

“Such a meeting is certainly necessary. It is necessary from the point of view of Russia-It bilateral relations and from the point of view of having serious conversation at the highest level about international matters and regional problems, including, of course, the crisis in Ukraine,” Peskov said.

Russian and Ukrainian negotiators gathered in Istanbul on Friday (16) for what was announced as the first direct peace negotiations in more than three years, under pressure from Trump’s president to end Europe’s most deadly conflict since World War II.

Commenting on Istanbul’s negotiations, Peskov said the Russian trading team was in constant communication with Moscow and that President Putin was receiving real -time updates.
