Russian mechanized infantry units return to Chechnya after exercises in Crimea

Russian mechanized infantry units return to Dagestan, Chechnya after completing exercises in CrimeaInterfax, an independent Russian news agency, reported on Friday.

People say that a Russian train with tanks from the Western Military District left for the base after the exercises.

Although this may not have much to do with the ongoing geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine, it could certainly add to market sentiment on Friday.

In addition, Interfax has reported that rebels in eastern Ukraine claim to have been shelled by government forces’ artillery and mortars in several incidents.

The markets seem to ignore this news, as remain hopeful for diplomatic talks, with US President Joe Biden meeting with world leaders ahead of next week’s talks between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
