Russian media tonight published photos and videos of two American citizens who were taken prisoner while fighting in Ukraine.
This is the first confirmation that the two Americans have been taken prisoner.
The Izvestia newspaper presented a video with a “short interview”, as it says, of Andy Huin, 27, from Hartseli, Alabama. The RT channel showed a photo where, as it says, it depicts Alexander Drouki, 39, from Taskaluza of the same State.
Relatives of the two men said on Wednesday that they had been missing in Ukraine for a week and expressed fears that they had been taken prisoner.
In another six-second video on Telegram, a bearded man with an American accent speaks to the camera and says, “My name is Alexander Druki. I’m against the war,” and he repeats “I’m against the war” in Russian.
The same phrase, “I’m against the war” in Russian can be heard saying in a two-second video the man who according to Izvestia is called Andy Huin.
Russia’s Defense Ministry did not respond to a request for comment.
