Russian military helicopters “Mi” and “Ka” will be equipped with a unified engine

The United Engine Corporation JSC, which is part of the Rostec structure, which produces engines for military and civil aviation, as well as for space programs, has started serial production of the VK-2500P engine. It is intended for the new Mi-28NM attack helicopter, but can also be used in any other military helicopters of the Mi and Ka series.

As noted by the general designer of the corporation, Yuri Shmotin, the VK-2500P engine is designed in such a way that it is suitable for any type of Mi and Ka helicopters without modification. It has already passed state tests, and now work is underway to increase its resources to the required 12,000 hours.

Ka-32 helicopters will also receive the new VK-2500PS-02 engine as part of their modernization. This should expand the possibilities of operating the helicopter on work with an external sling, for example, when transporting fallen trees, extinguishing fires and performing other tasks.
