The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that almost 180,000 people have fled Ukraine arriving in Russia after the invasion began on February 24, Reuters reported, citing the Russian news agency Interfax.
Reuters referred to the telegram in the Russian invasion as a “conflict”, while Moscow has been talking about a “special military operation” since the beginning of the war.
The Russian ministry added that the operation to open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of Ukrainian civilians and foreigners from the war zones “did not bring the desired results, through the fault of Kiev” and that the situation of civilians in Mariupol had reached “catastrophic scale”.
The two sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire that would allow civilians to be evacuated from war zones.
