Russian missiles hit a nine-story building and a resort near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odessa on Friday, killing at least 18 people and wounding dozens, Ukrainian officials said.
A missile hit a building in the town of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi early in the morning on Friday, killing 16 people, the Emergencies Ministry said in a statement. The attack also injured 30 people and caused a fire in an attached store.
Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesman for the Odessa regional administration, told Ukrainian state television that a rescue operation was underway as some people remained buried under the rubble after part of the building collapsed.
Another missile hit a resort facility, Bratchuk said, killing at least two people, including a child, and wounding one more. Reuters could not independently confirm the details of the incident.
