Russian Nurse Alleges Abuse by Soldiers – Forced to Become Sex Slaves

On one occasion, Margarita claimed to have witnessed an officer who shot his “sex slave”.a doctor named Svetlana, after a drunken delirium. “They made it look like Ukrainians did it,” Margarita said of the shooting, which left the victim permanently disabled.

Svetlana, who was married, called her husband in Russian and told him about the sexual abuse by the platoon officer because she was worried that she might be returning from the war pregnant, according to Margarita.

Another colleague of hers, Alina, was “given” to an officer in September. “They just put her in front of him and said ‘you’ll be with him, he likes you,'” Margarita said.

But female service members weren’t the only ones who suffered shocking abuse from their commanders. Margarita said she treated many recruits who had been beaten by their colleagues. According to her, commanders allowed only those suffering from life-threatening injuries to be treated. Otherwise, they received medical attention on the spot so that no one would know about the abuse.
