Russian Post, together with Aeromax, which specializes in the implementation of innovative projects using unmanned aircraft systems, have successfully tested the delivery of cargo using a drone. This was reported by the RBC edition with reference to the press service of the company. It was a test flight along the Salekhard – Aksarka – Salekhard route using an SH-350 helicopter drone.
The unmanned aerial vehicle of the Russian Post made several flights with a mock-up of cargo in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where the air temperature at the moment is –20 ° С. The total length of the route from Salekhard to Aksarka is 53 km. The company said that they intend to develop unmanned delivery, since it is very relevant and in demand for remote and inaccessible corners of Russia.
The Aeromax SH-350 UAV is capable of transporting up to 100 kg of cargo in a special container for a distance of 150 km at a maximum speed of 90 km / h. In August this year, Russian Post signed an agreement with Aeromax and the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug to launch unmanned delivery along several dozen routes in four regions of the okrug. This should significantly reduce logistics costs and increase the volume of freight traffic.
