Russian Spacecraft Carried Mysterious ‘Toxic’ Odor and Unknown Droplets to International Space Station

A Russian spacecraft, Progress 90, carrying six months’ worth of food and supplies to the International Space Station (ISS) has alarmed astronauts due to an unusual odor and droplets as it docked with the station. Progress 90 successfully docked with Russia’s Poisk segment of the ISS on Saturday, but when Roscosmos cosmonauts opened its hatch, a strange odor permeated the station, according to a NASA statement. “After opening the hatch of the Progress spacecraft, Roscosmos cosmonauts noticed an unexpected odor and saw small droplets, which led them to close the Poisk hatch to isolate the rest of the Russian compartment,” NASA said in a statement.
