Russian telecom operators will purchase only domestic base stations from 2025

The Russian operators of the Big Four (Beeline, Megafon, Tele2, MTS) have signed contracts with manufacturers for the supply of domestic base stations for their cellular networks. This was reported by the publication “RIA Novosti” with reference to the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media.

The department recalled that from 2028, cellular operators must use exclusively Russian base stations. Equipment deliveries will begin in 2025, and by the end of March 2023, operators must draw up a schedule for its installation. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev reported that Russian operators would sign forward contracts for the supply of domestic base stations by the end of 2022. At the same time, he assured that the ministry would provide targeted financial support to manufacturers. At the moment, contracts have already been signed by Rostelecom and Megafon.
