The Russian troops, who have been launching attacks against Abdiivka for a month, are attempting to encircle this eastern city Ukrainian and occupy a strategically important industrial unit, announced today a representative of the Ukrainian army, adding that two civilians had been killed in the previous 24 hours.
“Not only are they fighting to (occupy) the factory, but they don’t stop encircling Abdiivka”, said Oleksandr Stupun on Ukrainian television. “The coking plant is important” for the Russian forces, he underlined and assured that it currently remains under Ukrainian control.
However, the attacks continue unabated and “two civilians, a man and a woman, were killed on Thursday night in a blow to an apartment building”, he added.
On Tuesday, Ukrainian authorities have announced that they expect a new wave of attacks by Russian forcesas the invaders do not retreat despite suffering heavy losses.
In Kherson region, where fighting is also raging, a man was killed in Kintyika by Russian artillery shells, according to regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin. A little while later he announced that one person was killed and five were injured by a Russian strike in the village of Novoraisk.
