Russian woman who protested the war on TV says she was interrogated for more than 14 hours

Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, who staged an anti-war protest live on state TV, told media that she was questioned by authorities for more than 14 hours and was denied legal advice.

“These were really difficult days in my life. I literally went two days without sleep. The interrogation lasted more than 14 hours, I was not allowed to contact my relatives or friends, I had no legal assistance. So I’m in a very difficult position,” Ovsyannikova told reporters after the court hearing.

Lawyer Dmitry Zakhvatov said in an interview with CNN who had no news about the publisher. Hours after the report, he reported that she was found in a Moscow court. He posted on Telegram a photo with Ovsynnikova and one of her lawyers, Anton Gashinsky.

Ovsyannikova responded to the court for administrative infringement and was found guilty on Tuesday (15).

At around 9:30 pm Moscow time on Monday (14), Russian state broadcaster Channel One’s main news program was interrupted by a woman holding a sign urging viewers to “don’t believe the propaganda” and “stop the war” in Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the case in a teleconference on Tuesday: “As far as this lady is concerned, this is vandalism.”
