Ryan Gosling prioritizes family and leaves “dark” roles aside

Ryan Gosling is making a conscious choice to leave aside “heavier” characters for the benefit of your family.

The 43-year-old actor, who rose to prominence in darker roles such as “Drive,” is now dedicating to comedies, including her most recent box office hit, “Barbie,” while raising her two daughters, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 8, with his partner, Eva Mendes, 50 .

“I don’t really accept roles that take me somewhere dark,” he said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

“Right now, I feel like I’m trying to assess the environment at home and consider what will be best for me and my family. The decisions I make are made together with Eva, with our family in mind first”, said the artist.

Ryan also talked about his career transition to lighter projects. “I think 'La La Land' was the first one,” Gosling said. “It was like it was fun for them too, because even though they're not coming to the set, we're practicing piano every day or dancing or singing,” he recalled.
