The actor Ryan Reynolds 48, confirmed a new partnership with the British-Australian star Hugh Jackman 56, and with the director Shawn Levy also from 56, in a new film project outside the Marvel universe. The trio, who previously worked on the superhero blockbuster “Deadpool and Wolverine” (2024), will reunite for an independent feature.
Speaking on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Ryan spoke a little about what’s coming: “I’m going to spend the year writing. I’m writing a movie for Hugh and Shawn and I to do that’s not Marvel.”
In addition to “Deadpool and Wolverine”, the star worked with the filmmaker on other productions, such as the comedy “Free Guy: Taking Control” (2021) and in the science fiction film “The Adam Project” (2022).
The heartthrob previously stated that he is not sure whether he will reprise his role in the Marvel film, as he considers the production “a complete experience” that does not open the door for sequels.
“I would say that Shawn [Levy, diretor] made that very clear, and I think in the most delicate way possible, because, seriously, this is the best kind of problem any human being could have: a studio of this size saying, ‘What’s next?’ or ‘How can we do anything else?’. But this film was made as a complete experience. I feel enormous satisfaction in making a film like this”, said Ryan in a conversation with the website Collider.
“Honestly, at this point, I have no idea if I’ll ever put on the Deadpool costume again. I hope so, but I don’t know. Now is the time to kind of hang it up for a while and see what happens next,” he continued.
