S. Kedikoglou: Targeted measures for the benefit of vulnerable social groups

All available tools within the community and national context are used to address the energy and geopolitical crisis, said Deputy Minister of Rural Development & Food Mr. Simos Kedikoglou in an interview with the online channel One Channel.

Asked about the crisis in the international energy markets as a result of the war in Ukraine and the government’s interventions, the Undersecretary spoke about the resilience of the Greek economy, which despite the health and energy crisis, managed to get out of the strict surveillance regime. “The government takes targeted interventions in favor of vulnerable social groups and not horizontal measures”, he noted and reminded that the regulation for the price of electricity in the Parliament is in the final stretch.

In the objections of the opposition for delayed and insufficient measures, Mr. Kedikoglou stressed that “the government does not react in a warm way, but planned and as fast as possible”. YFAAT announced in advance that within a reasonable period of time, Greece expects the green light from Brussels for the possibility of transferring funds in order to address the consequences of the energy crisis. “This will allow us to allocate significant resources to alleviate the fishing industry,” he explained.

Regarding the fisheries sector, Mr. Kedikoglou also spoke about the prospects for the development and expansion of fishing tourism. “Our goal is to protect fish stocks and add an additional reason for our country to be a pole of attraction. Fishing tourism is a good source of alternative income for fishermen who show great interest. In collaboration with Deputy Minister of Tourism Mrs. Sofia Zacharaki, we started the relevant information through the first Conference in Eretria for fishing tourism and other events are expected to take place throughout Greece “.

Regarding the undiminished intensity in the challenges of Turkey, Mr. Kedikoglou recommended calmness, sobriety but also determination. “It is clear that the armed forces and the security forces are on alert to meet any challenge, whether it concerns the instrumentalization of illegal immigrants by the Ankara regime or other challenges,” he said. moving the government is informing the allies and consolidating the alliances. “We have a clear tactic, we rely on international law. The maps presented by the foreign minister were a great example. What Erdogan says is unhistorical. Ankara has not kept its own commitments,” he said.
