The Deputy Minister of Rural Development & Food, Mr. Simos Kedikoglou met by teleconference with the Board of Directors of the Interprofessional Organization Feta, which was represented by the President, Mr. Ioannis Vitalis and Mr. Alexandros Botos . The President of ELGO-DIMITRA, Mr. Serkos Haroutounian also participated in the meeting.
The Undersecretary expressed his concern about the serious violations and incidents of delinquency regarding cases of illegal Hellenization and reiterated his firm position for conducting systematic inspections.
According to Mr. Kedikoglou, the concern of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is the public consultation with all the involved bodies for the establishment of a new protection framework, with stricter sanctions. For his part, Mr. Haroutiunian put the issue of checks being carried out at European borders high on the agenda.
The representatives of the Board of Directors raised the issues related to the sector to the Deputy Minister and recognized the effort made by the Ministry, under the leadership of the Minister Mr. S. Libanos, for the protection of the PDO slice.
One of the issues that occupied the teleconference was the lack of land workers. Mr. Kedikoglou assured that the best solutions are being considered for the issue.
