S & P / Case-Shiller Home Price Index rises 6.6% in September to beat expectations

The S & P / Case-Shiller home price index it rose 6.6% in September compared to a year ago. The market consensus was for an increase of 5.1%. In August it was up 5.3% (revised from 5.2%).

In another report, prepared by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the home price index registered an advance of 1.7% in September compared to the previous month, higher than the 1.1% expected and 1.5% the previous month.
