S. Zaharakis: Simplification of procedures for co-advertising programs and acceleration of contracts in co-owned hotels

“We continue to strengthen steadily and with a plan the development of Greek tourism and in this context we proceed to simplify and improve the procedures for co-advertising programs and the drawing up of sales or long-term lease contracts”. This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sofia Zaharakis, presenting the two amendments of the ministry to the Parliament, during the discussion of the Eranistic bill.

“With the legislation to date, the drawing up of contracts for the sale or long-term lease of divided properties in property hotels, was only allowed after the completion of construction and the disclosure of the operation of the joint ownership hotel. But this legislative framework has proven not to encourage the promotion of related investments and the achievement of sufficient means of financing them. With the new regulation, it is therefore possible to draw up contracts earlier, without having to wait until the completion of the construction of the hotel. Now the possibility of self-financing of the investment is provided more fully and the competitiveness of the product is improved”, underlined Mr. Zacharakis.

Referring to the amendment to simplify the process of Regions – private sector co-advertising programs, Ms. Zaharaki pointed out that “it was a constant request of the Regions that unlocks new possibilities for their targeted tourism promotion”. As he clarified, “the reasoned decision of the relevant Regional Council and the approval of the Board of Directors of the EOT remain as conditions”.
