Dogs are not just companions who wait for us back home, with whom we go for a walk at night or play in our free time. They are family members who suffer and laugh with us, unable to judge us but always ready to be faithful to us and love us.
This causes that saying goodbye to them because of an illness leaves a hole in our hearts, but at the same time, it is an opportunity to give back to them for everything they have done for us, just as Carlos Fresco did with his dog Monty, whom he took for one last walk on your favorite trails before saying goodbye.
Carlos and Monty are originally from Wales, they were together for 10 years, during which time they walked among the mountains and huge trails that this site offers.
Sadly, Monty fell ill with leukemia. Carlos took him to the best specialists, but the disease progressed too far and so fast that nothing more could be done. The doctor recommended that the best, although painful, would be to euthanize Monty. Carlos had no choice but to agree, he did not want to see his friend suffering day after day, because he did not deserve to spend his last days like this. But before firing him, he decided to take him on a wheelbarrow for a last walk on the trails that the dog liked the most.
Those who knew them were saddened by Monty’s state of health and the difficult decision that Carlos had made, but they respected the facts and did the best they could by providing help on the furry’s last walk.
He knew that Monty was dying because his cancer had returned. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and responded very well to chemotherapy. But sadly, his leukemia came back eight weeks ago and it affected him very quickly.
He loved walks in the hills and we improvised and took him for a walk in your wonderful lighthouses. Although he was weak, he enjoyed all the fuss.
Along the way, complete strangers asked if they could help push Monty on his last trip. I would like to thank you all for your support, encouragement, and genuine concern.
