The Sag Awards ceremony, which aired on the night between Sunday and Easter Monday, had little to do with the splendor of past editions. The show, a small hour, went on the air without any direct, recorded and ready to use. No winner has had the opportunity to tell their emotions in person. No monologue was “improvised”. The whole evening, characterized by the memory of Chadwick Boseman and from the continuous climb to the success of The Queen of Chess, of The Crown e Schitt’s Creek, has been revised, so as to be able to respond correctly to the rules imposed by the health emergency.
Despite the limitations of Covid-19, some protagonists managed, however, to get straight to the belly of the public, viral as the message they wanted to bring with them should be. «Stop asian hate», it was read on the clutch of Jamie Chung, actress of Korean and American descent, seen in Lovecraft Country. The series, like its interpreter, did not receive great awards, but the image of Chung, with her red purse clutched in her hands, went around the world, able to tell an urgent need of Western society.
The Sag then moved on, unveiling their prizes and awards. There were no big surprises. The twenty-seventh edition of the awards, awarded to the best of cinema and television, seems to have confirmed what has already been said by the Golden Globes and the Oscars, with their own nominations.
