Sale of new homes unexpectedly falls 3.5% in September

The sale of new homes fell unexpectedly in September 3.5% to an annual rate of 959,000. The market consensus was for a rise of 2.8% to 1.02 million. In turn, the August figures were revised downward, from 1.01 million to 994,000.

The average price was 326,000, which represents a rise of 3.5% compared to a year ago.

The report did not have an impact on the market. The dollar remained at previous levels, validating gains on almost all fronts.
