The shopping mall sector recorded a 38.2% increase in sales in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. of 4.3%.

The data were released this Wednesday (17) by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce) based on surveys of the Cielo Retail Index in Shopping Centers (ICVS).

The survey showed that Brazilians spent, on average, R$ 126.27 on products and services in malls between April and June this year. The amount is practically the same as in the previous quarter (January to March), which was R$ 126.09.

The increase in sales was driven by the return of the public. There was an increase in the flow of people of 58.7% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same interval in 2021.

The president of Abrasce, Glauco Humai, evaluated that the good results of the year are confirmation that the segment is not only recovering from the damage suffered by the covid-19 pandemic, but entering a sustainable path of advancement.

“Our expectation is that the increase in sales in the sector will be gradual and continuous in the second half of 2022, also leveraged by commemorative dates such as Father’s Day, Children’s Day, Black Friday and Christmas”, said the executive in note.
