Sales in Brazilian malls grew 6.2% in October compared to the same period in 2021, according to data released this Wednesday (7) by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce).
In the year, the sector accumulates sales advance of 25.6% compared to the same stage last year.
“We believe that the improvement in macroeconomic indicators will enable even more optimistic expectations for the end of the year”, said Glauco Humai, president of Abrasce, in a press release.
The average value of sales in malls was R$123.46 in October, according to data from ICVS-Abrasce, the Cielo Retail Index in Shopping Centers. In September, it had stayed at 123.30 reais.
Abrasce also mentioned data from Ipec and Mais Fluxo pointing to a 12.5% increase in the flow of people in malls compared to a year earlier.
The association estimates an 11% increase in the number of employees at the malls for the fourth quarter, with the hiring of 112,000 temporary workers, an increase of 14% on an annual basis.
