According to Avtostat analysts, in January 2022, 9,533 new Chinese cars were sold in Russia. This is a 107% increase compared to the same period in 2021. The leader among Chinese auto brands was Haval, which was able to double the sales of its new cars in the Russian market in a year. Last month, Haval cars in Russia were sold with a circulation of 3,169 units, which is 102% more than a year ago. Of these, 1,410 units accounted for the Haval Jolion compact crossover, which became a bestseller in the Chinese car market. Chery took second place in sales in Russia. Its car sales increased by 47% year-on-year to 2,820 units in January 2022. In third place in terms of popularity is the Geely brand, which delivered 1,840 new cars in the first month of this year, which is 3.4 times more compared to the same period last year.
By the way, in 2021, sales of Chinese cars in Russia doubled, setting a new record. Analysts attribute the growth in demand for Chinese cars to rising prices and a shortage of new cars of other brands in car dealerships.
