Sales of Chinese smartphones in Russia have doubled. Push-button phone sales are also expected to rise.

According to MTS, from February 28 to March 13, sales of smartphones from Chinese brands in Russia doubled compared to the previous two weeks. According to the company, Huawei’s sales in the first two weeks of March increased by 300%, Oppo and Vivo by 200%, ZTE by 100% and Realme by 80%. Xiaomi devices have been in short supply since the end of 2021, and it is difficult to find them for sale.

In the MTS retail network, the share of Realme in sales of all smartphones increased from 5.7% to 12%, Honor – from 2.5% to 5%, ZTE – from 1.2% to 3%, Oppo – from 0.4% to 1.5%, and Vivo – 0.3% to 1%. The share of Huawei smartphones in network sales increased from 0.1% to 0.5%. Vivo confirmed a multiple increase in sales in Russia over the past two weeks, Realme noted that the company expects further growth in its share in the Russian market.

Vadim Talanyuk from Marvel Distribution Vadim Talanyuk confirms that over the past two weeks, the demand for smartphones has grown on average two to three times compared to February. He noted that prices are likely to continue to rise, in connection with which demand will fall.

M.Video-Eldorado confirms the growth in demand: “At the same time, the peak of interest in flagships has passed, and demand has been redistributed to the middle price range, where Chinese manufacturers have always been strong.”

Arkady Markaryan, Head of Smartphones at Aliexpress Russia, noted that the growth was demonstrated by brands that are ready to meet demand and have sufficient stock in warehouses. He added that low-cost models and mid-range smartphones are now popular. Push-button phone sales are also expected to rise.
