Sales of processors in Russia: Intel is recovering its positions, demand for AMD is falling

Yandex.Market service has shared data on sales of desktop processors from the beginning of 2020 to the beginning of 2021. Experts spoke about the balance of power in the domestic processor market and named the most popular models among buyers.

According to Yandex.Market, last year the American chipmaker Intel began to regain its share of the Russian processor market. It grew from 40.4% in January 2020 to 47.6% in February 2021. At the same time, Intel’s competitor, AMD, on the contrary, began to lose ground. If in January last year the share of processors under the AMD brand accounted for 61.3% of the total sales of chips in Russia, then a year later this figure decreased to 52.4%. What is the reason, experts do not specify.

As for the most popular processor among Russian buyers, the six-core AMD Ryzen 5 3600 released in 2019 became it by the end of February of this year, however, just like a year ago. The share of this processor, the average cost of which is about 15 thousand rubles, accounted for 9.7% of the total sales. The second place in terms of sales was taken by the Ryzen 5 5600X – it was chosen by 7.6% of buyers. Closes the top three leaders Core i5-10400F from Intel with 5.9% of sales. At the same time, Yandex.Market experts note that during the reporting period, many processors fell in price by at least 10%, which led to an increase in the popularity of certain models. For example, Ryzen 7 5800X can now be bought for about 38 thousand rubles, which allowed it to become the fourth most popular chip in the Russian market of desktop processors.
