Sales Reached A Record Spike At Apple’s App Store During The Holiday Season

While the year 2020 proved to be financially disastrous for many organizations all across the globe, Apple saw an uptick in the sales of its services throughout 2020. The sales were remarkably high during the lockdown period, but they broke all records in the holiday season just two weeks ago.

As per Apple’s report, the customer spent on various apps on the App Store during the period of 25th December till 31stDecember was noted to be around $1.8 billion.

This humongous spent led to Apple earning around $540 million on 31st December, making the highest sales record for Apple before the year changed. In 2019, the sales by 31st December were around $386 million.

The previous year, the customer spent around this holiday window was almost $1.42 billion. In 2018, the customer spent was 16% less than that. So, every year, it seems that Apple is garnering more consumers through a wide array of apps and services. The retail stores remained closed for most of the time during 2020, but it seems that Apple’s sales of its services did not reduce one bit.

The fiscal year 2021 first quarter’s results will be announced on 27th January, and these profits will add on to them.

Most-used Services

The services that are extremely profitable for Apple include AppleCare Support, Apple Music, Apple News+, Apple TV+, and Apple Fitness + service for devices with iOS and Apple Watch.

For Apple Music, more than 90% of users of iOS 14 now also use the Listen Now feature along with personal radio stations.

Apple Books has garnered over 90 million MAU.

On the other hand, Apple Pay is now widely getting recognized. In the US, 90% of the shops now accept Apple Pay, while the percentage of accepting stores in the UK is around 85%. 99% of Australian stores also accept Apple Pay. The acceptance increased more because Apple Pay is pretty adaptable for e-commerce and spiking online shopping trends.
