A riot has erupted in Germany following the release of photos showing police exercising at the Holocaust memorial in Berlin. In fact, according to dw.com, the police chief condemned the police officers today, Monday (1/11), after the publication of the images that show them doing push-ups using the concrete blocks that constitute the Holocaust Memorial.
The photos, where the officers are exercising wearing their uniforms and carrying their weapons, were published by the Berliner Zeitung, while they appear to be frames from a video allegedly taken by the police themselves.
“The conduct of my colleagues ignores what this monument stands for and does not meet the respect shown to it by the Berlin police,” said Barbara Slowik, adding that “for me, it also violates the memory of those killed.” ».
Berlin cops recorded themselves doing push-ups on Holocaust memorial as if it was their playground, in video obtained by local paper BZ.
Supervisors knew, but did nothing.

Investigation into the incident
The incident took place during a protest in the city last June for which the police had been deployed.
Slowik said an investigation would be carried out into the incident and also noted the role of the monument as a “memorial site”.
For its part, the German police union, GdP, also apologized for the incident, asking for “consequences”. “The Holocaust Memorial is not a playground. “This unexplained action mocks the genocide of millions of people and violates the values of the Berlin police,” the GdP added.
It is noted that the Holocaust Memorial consists of 2,711 gray cubes of different sizes, located in the center of Berlin, near the Brandenburg Gate.
While tourists often use the monument to take selfies, the rules prohibit running, noise, smoking and other acts that could be considered disrespectful to the memorial site.
