Salvador Carnival should move R $ 1.8 billion, according to Ministry

The edition of Carnival 2025 must be the busiest and most profitable since 2015, according to a projection of the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC). According to CNC, the party should move $ 12 billion throughout Brazil, the number represents a growth of 2.1% compared to the year 2024.

Numbers from the Ministry of Tourism, based on information from the state tourism departments, point out that 53 million people will celebrate Carnival across the country. The estimate indicates an 8% increase over the previous year. In Bahia, one of the main destinations of revelers, the state is expected to receive 3.5 million visitors.

In Salvador, the capital of the revelry, 850 thousand tourists are expected and a revenue of $ 1.8 billion. The number represents growth of 63% compared to that of 2024, according to the Tourism Observatory of the Secretariat of Culture.

One of the most traditional cabins in the Bahian capital, “Camarote Salvador”, founded by businessman Luís Eduardo Magalhães Filho, completes 25 in this carnival. The organization’s estimate is that the cabin receives 5,500 people a day during Carnival.

In 2025, the structure of the Salvador cabin has over 10,000 m² and two stages. The place also has lookouts overlooking the Barra-Ondina circuit, the most famous in Bahia.

“The Salvador cabin was born to be more than a party: it is a stage of unforgettable experiences. Reaching the age of 25 is proof that innovation and tradition can walk together – we evolve without losing the essence of the Bahian carnival, ”said businessman Luis Eduardo to CNN . “This year we are celebrating this milestone with the best of music, from our axé to electronic, with the energy that only Salvador knows how to offer,” he said.

The expectation of the organization is that more than 10,000 professionals will be employed directly in areas such as production, safety, gastronomy and general services. The Salvador cabin intends to move about $ 160 million in the local economy, an increase of 15% compared to last year.

Even with the growth in the numbers and size of the whole event, the businessman points out that Salvador Carnival needs greater professionalization to continue relevant to other street carnivals that have also grown in recent years, such as Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

“We cannot ignore that the Bahia Carnival contrasts with a series of challenges and that we need to overcome barriers to maintain the relevance of this business that transcends the festive aspect,” says Magalhães.

“It is critical that the entertainment industry reinvents and reinvents. And all the actors involved in Carnival, including the business community, the artistic class and especially the government, need to come together for a plural debate, a permanent forum to discuss agendas related to logistics, infrastructure and security, ”says the founder of the Salvador Camarote.
