Sam Bankman-Fried book coming soon

Last December, Sam Bankman-Fried was released on bail and moved into his parents’ Palo Alto home. There he was visited by Michael Lewis, whose book “The Big Short” formed the basis of the popular movie “The Big Short”. As it turned out, the writer visited the ex-CEO of FTX not out of idle interest, he was preparing a memoir.

Lewis and Bankman-Freed had met several times before the exchange collapsed. And at the Bitcoin 2023 conference, the writer declaredthat almost finished work on the book.

In the process, he managed to talk both with the disgraced “crypto-king” himself, and with people from his entourage. These are former and current employees of the company, partners, friends and relatives of Frida.

According to Lewis, the final version of the book will be ready in a few months. And he’s already sold the film rights to Apple Corporation. In the book, the author tried to tell the story of the success and fall of Bankman-Fried, whom Lewis himself calls “an interesting subject.”

How it all started and how it ended

Lewis learned about Bankman-Fried in 2021. According to the writer, one of his friends asked to “talk” to the head of FTX in order to “evaluate him.” Allegedly, he had a deal with SBF, and he wanted to know more about him.

Lewis held several meetings with Bankman-Freed, and recommended that an agreement be reached. Later, already at the conference, he admitted that he wanted to see how the story of the SBF would end.

He soon began work on the book. When he showed it to the publisher, the publisher complained that the work had not been completed:

“He said, ‘You don’t have a third act.’ And it really was. I just didn’t know how to finish. But then FTX collapsed, God, how grateful I was for that.

According to Lewis, the book is excellent. He did not divulge details, but stated that the work would become a new bestseller.
