The Court of Appeal rejected all of Sam Bankman-Fried’s requests for temporary release. The former head of FTX will remain in custody until his sentencing on March 28, 2024.
Clerk Catherine O’Hagan Wolfe of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said that after a full review of Sam Bankman-Fried’s lawyers’ request for his temporary release, the defense’s arguments were found unpersuasive.
She said that, according to the appeal court’s ruling, Sam Bankman-Fried will remain in custody until the final verdict is announced on March 28, 2024.
Earlier, former US Department of Justice prosecutor Renato Mariotti suggested that Sam Bankman-Fried could receive court leniency and a lesser sentence. Bankman-Fried’s relatively young age may prompt the court to give him a second chance at life after serving his prison sentence, Mariotti said.
