Samsung already pre-installs Russian software on Android: Yandex, ICQ, Mail.ru

On July 1, 2021, the law on penalties for the sale of electronics without pre-installed Russian software comes into force. Samsung has already started implementing the ruling. The company has launched pre-installation of domestic software on Android smartphones. The system update will appear even on older mobile devices.

The new software contains few changes. The manufacturer indicated that the mandatory download of Russian applications was added as part of the implementation of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1867 of November 18, 2020. It is also known that some programs can be installed only if the user reset the device to factory settings. The size of all domestic services can exceed 100 MB. This update also includes bug fixes, enhancements to existing features, and additional performance improvements.

It is almost impossible to remove Russian software in the traditional way. In addition, some manufacturers prohibit this process altogether. However, there are unofficial methods that can help you get rid of domestic applications.

To start the forced removal of preinstalled software on Samsung smartphones, you need to do the following sequence of actions:

  • open “Settings” and go to the “Applications” category;
  • find new programs in the list and open each one separately;
  • click the “Delete updates” button, and then – “Stop” and “Disable”.

It is impossible to completely clear the mobile device of Russian software: some of the information will still remain. However, this way you can remove the icon from the desktop and free up memory.

Electronics manufacturers who ignore the authorities’ requirement for the mandatory preinstallation of domestic software will have to pay fines ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 rubles for officials and from 50,000 to 200,000 rubles for legal entities.
