Samsung announces Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA 2 graphics

Back in 2019, Samsung announced a partnership with AMD to use its RDNA graphics architecture in its future chipsets. Earlier this year, the South Korean manufacturer confirmed that the next generation of Exynos SoCs will receive a dedicated GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture that will support ray tracing and variable speed shading on the company’s flagship mobile devices. Now Samsung has finally announced the launch date for its next-gen top chipset. The Exynos 2200 will be unveiled on January 11 and will debut in the Galaxy S22 smartphone.

On the official page of Samsung Exynos, a message has appeared with the hashtag #PlaytimeIsOver, as well as a promise that soon it will be hot in the gaming segment of mobile devices.

Until now, all tests for the Exynos 2200 GPU have been done with early drivers, so it’s hard to tell how much performance it really is. Recent leaks indicate that the Exynos 2200 GPU will be only 17% more powerful than the Exynos 2100 GPU. Whether this is true or not, we will find out in less than two weeks.
